Removing “Antispyware Soft” Malware

Antispyware Soft is a malware program that disguises itself as a virus scanner. Your machine can become infected with this program by visiting malicious websites that will introduce the malware program onto your computer via pop-ups or pop-unders. Web browsers such as Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox are vulnerable to being infected via this method.

Antispyware Soft is hard to remove. It will force nearly all of the other applications that you attempt to launch to close instantly. It will even shut off your screen saver. It will claim that all the programs that you try to run are infected, even though they are not. It will give you fake warning messages that your computer is infected with a variety of viruses, even though it is not. The program will attempt to trick you into paying for some type of virus removal. Do not pay for anything – it’s a scam. Instead, try the following steps below to remove Antispyware Soft.

First, download the program RKill. RKill will terminate the processes associated with Antispyware Soft. RKill is the only way to reliably terminate these processes so that you can run additional software to remove the malware. You cannot close these processes manually as Antispyware Soft will not allow your Task Manager to run.

RKill was written by Lawrence Abrams, owner of BleepingComputer.com, expressly for the purpose of killing malware processes. Download RKill from either of the following links on BleepingComputer.com:

Once you’ve downloaded it, run it. It will begin terminating the malevolent malware running on your machine. When it’s finished, download the program Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (also known as Mbam) from the following link:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

When it’s finished downloading, run Mbam and allow it to fully clean your machine. It will detect and remove the Antispyware Soft program and any other malware it finds.

Bam! Mbam's scan will smack down any malware.

Once these steps are completed, reboot your machine. To be completely on the safe side, once your machine is rebooted, run an anti-virus scanner such as Microsoft Security Essentials.
